Accelerated and Intensive Programs

Advance your career with accelerated and intensive program options.

Adolescent Education

This 12-month, intensive program can be completed in one summer and two semesters, including teaching. It is available for students who have a strong background in a specific content area and are pursuing:

Educational Technology

Offered exclusively at Adelphi University’s Manhattan Center, this 14-month, intensive program combines in-person summer, weekend and winter courses with semester long online courses during the academic year. Other features of the program include:

  • A “technology institute” in summer 1, which focuses on hands-on core technology skills
  • Completion of a school-based practicum or non-school fieldwork during summer 2
  • The option of a certification track for licensed New York State teachers, or a non-certification track
  • Graduate assistantships for qualified students

Middle School Education Advanced Certificate

Middle School Education Advanced Certificate is offered in an accelerated format at Adelphi University’s Manhattan Center – earn an extension to your Childhood or Adolescence Education Certification in only 5 weeks!


To help meet the need for more TESOL teachers for the international student population, Adelphi University’s Ruth S. Ammon School of Education has partnered with ELS Language Centers to provide full-time ELS employees to earn an MA in TESOL. Up to 20 ELS applicants will be accepted into this highly competitive program, which features:

  • A 25-month completion time
  • A combination of blended learning, face-to-face instruction, in-service practicum, and two intensive summer sessions
  • Merit and incentive scholarships for eligible students
